Why are PCB boards mostly green

Hits:1  Add Date:2021/11/20

Printed circuit board (PCB) can be seeneverywhere in our life. But how much do you really know about PCBS? Here I list3 things about PCBS that you probably don't know!

1. Why is PCB green?

Why are most PCBS green? That's the basicquestion. In fact, the circuit board itself is brown, and the green we see isthe solder barrier layer. Solder resistance is not always green, but green isthe most common color. It's unclear why the green solder barrier was used, butthere are several rumors. Some say it was a requirement of former militaryapplications, and is still used today; Some say it was the most popular resinand hardener color at the time, and the laminate was green, which was used inall PCB layouts; Others say it's because the human eye reacts more to green. Inshort, green has been around for a long time and will continue to be around, although some companies allow users to choose other colors they want.

2. Who invented PCB?

Invented to make it easier to connect manycomponents together, the PCB dates back to the 1890s. But the real inventor ofthe PCB was Austrian inventor Paul Eisler. In Austria, Paul learned about theuse of printing technology and wanted to see if he could use a printing processto mount all the components on a single insulating board instead of manuallyconnecting them with wires. In 1936, to make a radio, he developed his own PCB.But PCBS didn't catch on at first, and it wasn't until the 1950s that theybecame more widely used.

3. How is PCB designed now?

To make a PCB, you must first design thelayout of the PCB, which is usually done by CAD (computer aided design). CAD isused to draw schematics and design the layout of the PCB so that possibleerrors can be detected before the PCB is manufactured. After testing andchecking the wiring and placement of all components on the PCB, manufacture thePCB according to the layout
